Exciting news for Nigeria’s tech and innovation ecosystem as the first-ever GITEX Nigeria technology expo is set to take place in September 2025, with events happening simultaneously in Lagos and Abuja, two of the country’s most influential business hubs.

This landmark event comes on the heels of a strategic partnership between the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and KAOUN International, the global organiser of GITEX—the world’s largest and most impactful tech exhibition brand, headquartered in Dubai.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish GITEX Nigeria was witnessed by key stakeholders, including Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director General of NITDA, and Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International. Also present was Dr. Tunji Alausa, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Health and Social Reform.
A New Platform for Global Tech Collaboration
GITEX Nigeria promises to be the largest in-country tech access event of the decade, positioning Nigeria as a leading force in Africa’s digital revolution. According to Abdullahi, “Nigeria needs a platform to accelerate trade and innovation. GITEX Nigeria offers us a chance to showcase and export our homegrown tech solutions to the global market.”
With Nigeria’s growing reputation for producing some of the world’s most talented tech and digital entrepreneurs, this event comes at a pivotal time. It aligns with national goals to diversify the economy by enhancing productivity in vital sectors like healthcare, education, and agriculture through technology and innovation.
Spotlight on Nigeria’s Growth Sectors
The Nigerian edition of GITEX will feature signature exhibitions like:
- AI Everything Nigeria
- North Star Nigeria for Startups
- GITEX Health Tech 5.0
- GITEX Future Finance 5.0
These co-located shows will highlight Nigeria’s strides in Artificial Intelligence, digital health, fintech, and startup ecosystems, while also integrating the country into the wider GITEX Africa (Morocco), GITEX Global (Dubai), and GITEX Europe (Berlin) networks.
Driving Innovation from Nigeria to the World
CEO of KAOUN International, Trixie LohMirmand, emphasized that GITEX Nigeria will offer a unique format, tailored to Nigeria’s exponential growth in key industries. “We aim to co-create global partnerships and unlock opportunities that can deliver real societal impact,” she noted.
With Nigeria projected to grow by 11.2% in 2024 (according to the African Development Bank), GITEX Nigeria is not just an event, it’s a movement toward deeper innovation, trade, and collaboration.
